OVERVIEW

LACUNA is a contemporary art film built around the human figure at the threshold of water and wilderness. The project demonstrates AI image & video art direction for fashion and luxury brands seeking emotionally driven, atmosphere-led visual language rooted in stillness, unease and natural world imagery.

CONCEPT

LACUNA explores the moment a human presence is absorbed by landscape. Figures are submerged, anonymous, never fully revealed, faces withheld, identities dissolved into wetland, foliage and teal-green water. The work sits in the space between surrender and disappearance, between beauty and threat. Rather than dramatising tension, the direction remains restrained and observational.

VISUAL APPROACH

LACUNA is grounded in a painterly, film-saturated visual language drawn from Flemish landscape tradition and contemporary art photography. Figures are framed as compositional elements within dense botanical environments, partially submerged, partially obscured, always anonymous. The palette is controlled and consistent: teal water, tobacco reed, wet green foliage, warm ochre decay. Lighting is diffused and naturalistic, avoiding contrast or drama in favour of atmospheric flatness that heightens the uncanny. Movement is minimal and deliberate, a slight drift, a breath, a reed bending in wind. Stillness is the primary tension. The overall tone is editorial and contemporary, balancing natural world documentary with high-fashion visual sensibility.
